Be sure to bring a mask and fins as snorkeling is exceptional on the bayside of
South Lido Beach. Snorkelers of all ages can float face down and discover some magnificent thriving marine
communities.
The key is to seek out dark spots in the shallows of Sarasota Bay. These grassy clusters known as "grass Flats",
provide the perfect habitat for sea urchins, crabs, clams, scallops, sea stars, and smaller fish. You’ll even discover
sand dollars and our elusive seahorses.
Remember, don't look for "grass flats" where beaches have wave action; seek in the saltwater bays or on the
lee side of our islands.
Snorkeling Lido & North Lido beaches
Schools of fish, horse shoe crabs and dolphin will certainly entertain snorkel fans along Lido and North Lido beaches.
